Terms & Conditions
BrainClean · Effective date: 5 May 2026 · Last updated: 18 July 2026
Short version. By using BrainClean you agree to use it for personal, lawful focus and digital-wellness purposes; you are responsible for your account; paid features are covered by a 7-day free trial that turns into a monthly Google Play subscription unless you cancel; the App is provided “as is” with no guarantee that blocking is unbypassable; and these Terms are governed by the laws of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
1. Acceptance of these Terms
These Terms & Conditions (the “Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and BrainClean (“we”,
“us”, “our”), the operator of the BrainClean Android application (package
com.brainclean.app, the “App”) and any related backend services (together with the App, the
“Service”).
By creating an account, downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority in your country, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian. By using the Service, you confirm that you meet these requirements and that you are not barred from using the Service under applicable law.
3. Your account
- You can create an account either with a valid email address and a password you choose, or by signing in with your Google account. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential.
- If you sign in with Google, your access to the Service depends on your continued access to that Google account. Keeping it secure is your responsibility, and your use of it is governed by your agreement with Google, not by these Terms.
- You are responsible for all activity that takes place under your account.
- One account is for one person. You may not share your account or transfer it without our written consent.
- If you become aware of any unauthorised access or use of your account, notify us immediately at support@brainclean.app.
- You may delete your account at any time from inside the App (Settings → Delete Account). Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
4. Licence to use the App
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable licence to install and use the App on any Android device that you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial focus and digital-wellness use.
This licence does not grant you any right to: (a) sell, rent, lease, sublicense, or otherwise transfer the App; (b) reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to extract source code from the App, except to the extent permitted by law; (c) modify, adapt, or create derivative works of the App; (d) remove or alter any proprietary notices; or (e) use the App in any way not expressly permitted by these Terms.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Break any law or regulation, or infringe the rights of any third party.
- Harass, abuse, threaten, or coerce anyone, including by using the blocking feature against another person without their consent.
- Install the App on a device that is not yours, or use the App to control a device used by another person without their informed consent.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, the backend, other users’ accounts, or any related systems or networks.
- Interfere with, disrupt, or place an unreasonable load on the Service (for example, automated scraping, denial-of-service attempts, or abusive request volumes).
- Reverse-engineer or attempt to circumvent the App’s blocking mechanism for the purpose of distributing tools or guides whose primary purpose is to defeat focus blocking on someone else’s device.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if we reasonably believe you have violated this section.
6. Blocking, notifications, schedules and wellness — how they work and their limits
The App is a focus tool. When you start a focus task, the App blocks the apps you have selected by displaying an overlay over them, until the task is marked complete or the maximum block-time you set has elapsed.
Important: Blocking on Android relies on system permissions you grant (Usage Access, Display over other apps, battery-optimization exemption, and optionally Notification Access). If any of these permissions are revoked, restricted by the operating system, or limited by your device manufacturer, the blocking feature will weaken or stop working.
You acknowledge and agree that:
- Blocking is provided as a self-imposed, opt-in tool. It is not guaranteed to be unbypassable. A determined user with access to the device can disable the App, revoke permissions, force-stop the service, uninstall the App, or use other devices to access blocked apps.
- Brief unblock windows may occur after a device reboot, during low-memory conditions, when the operating system places the App into Doze or App Standby, or during network failures.
- Task completion requires confirmation from our backend. If our servers are temporarily unreachable, blocking will continue until your configured maximum block-time has elapsed or the App is reopened.
- You are solely responsible for your choice of which apps to block and for any consequences of being unable to access those apps during a focus task (including but not limited to missed messages, calls, alerts, or time-sensitive tasks).
The App is not intended for use in any context where being unable to access a particular app, or missing a notification from it, could cause harm to life, health, safety, or property — for example, do not block apps you may need in an emergency, and do not suppress notifications you may need to receive.
6.1 Notification blocking
If you grant Notification Access, you can have the App dismiss notifications while a focus task is running — either from the apps you selected, or from every app on your device. Both options are off unless you turn them on.
Read this before choosing “All Apps”. That option dismisses notifications from every app except BrainClean for the whole session. That includes calls, messages, work and school alerts, delivery and banking alerts, and reminders you may be relying on. Dismissed notifications are removed from your notification shade and the App cannot bring them back. Do not use this option if you may need to be reachable, and do not rely on it in any situation where a missed alert could affect anyone’s health, safety, or property. Choosing it is your decision and you accept responsibility for anything you miss while it is on.
Notification blocking depends on Android continuing to deliver notifications to the App. Some notifications — for example certain system, emergency, or ongoing notifications — cannot be dismissed by an app at all, so you should not assume every notification will be suppressed.
6.2 Schedules
You can create schedules that start a blocking session automatically at a time and on the days you choose. When a schedule fires, the App creates a focus task for you (using your label as its name), starts it, and begins blocking — without asking you again at that moment. A schedule with no repeat days runs once and then switches itself off.
You acknowledge and agree that:
- A schedule blocks the apps that are selected in the Apps tab at the time it fires, not the ones that were selected when you created it. Changing your selection changes what your schedules will block.
- Schedules rely on Android’s alarms and on your device having a working connection when they fire. They may start late, or not at all, if your device is off, offline, in Doze, or if your manufacturer restricts the App in the background. We do not guarantee that a scheduled session will begin at the exact time set, or that it will begin at all.
- It is your responsibility to set schedules that suit you, and to review them if your routine changes. A session that starts while you are doing something else will still block the apps you selected.
6.3 Wellness features
The App also offers two optional features, both switched off unless you turn them on: Eye Blinker, which shows a periodic reminder to rest your eyes, and Doom Scroll Breaker, which interrupts an app with a short countdown once you have used it continuously for longer than a limit you set. Like blocking, these depend on the permissions you grant and on your device’s behaviour, and may not trigger at exactly the moment expected.
Not medical advice. Eye Blinker is a general-purpose reminder timer, not a medical device, diagnosis, or treatment, and it is not a substitute for professional advice about your eyes or your health. Do not rely on it as one. If you have concerns about eye strain or your vision, consult a qualified professional.
7. Your content and feedback
You retain ownership of the content you create in the App, such as task names and schedule labels. By using the App, you grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, process, transmit, and display your content solely as necessary to operate and provide the Service to you.
You are responsible for the content you create. Do not submit content that is illegal, infringing, or that contains another person’s personal information.
7.1 Feedback
If you send us feedback through the App, you grant us the right to use it without restriction or payment to operate and improve the Service — including to fix problems, guide what we build next, and contact you about it if you gave us an email address. We are under no obligation to act on, reply to, or keep any feedback, and any product change we make after receiving it remains ours.
Please send only what you are willing to have us store. Do not include passwords, financial details, sensitive personal information, or another person’s personal information in a feedback message. Feedback is rate-limited, and we may ignore or remove submissions that are abusive or automated.
8. Intellectual property
The App, the Service, and all associated software, designs, logos, text, graphics, and other content (excluding your content) are owned by BrainClean or our licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership of the App or any of our intellectual property to you.
“BrainClean” and the BrainClean logo are our trademarks. You may not use them without our prior written permission.
9. Service availability and changes
We aim to keep the Service available, but we do not guarantee uptime. The Service may be unavailable from time to time for maintenance, upgrades, technical issues, or reasons outside our control. We may add, change, or remove features at any time; we will not be liable to you for any such change.
If we discontinue the Service, we will give reasonable notice through the App or by email where practical, and we will provide a way for you to delete your account before discontinuation.
10. Fees
10.1 Free trial
New users are offered a 7-day free trial. During the trial you have access to the paid features at no cost. If you do not subscribe before the trial ends, access to paid features (currently: creating and starting focus tasks) is restricted until you subscribe.
Important: The trial is offered and administered by Google Play, is generally available only once per Google account, and converts into a paid monthly subscription automatically when it ends unless you cancel it first. Google requires cancellation at least 24 hours before the trial ends to avoid being charged. Eligibility and the exact terms of the offer are shown to you on the Google Play purchase screen before you confirm; where they differ from this section, what Google Play shows you at purchase applies.
10.2 Subscription
After the free trial, continued access to paid features requires an active subscription at the price shown for your country on Google Play at the time you subscribe. Subscriptions are billed monthly through Google Play and renew automatically until cancelled. The price, currency, and any applicable taxes are displayed to you on the purchase screen before you confirm.
10.3 Billing and cancellation
- All payments are processed by Google Play. We do not collect or store your payment details.
- You can cancel your subscription at any time from Google Play (Play Store → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain access until then.
- Refunds are handled according to Google Play’s refund policy.
10.4 Price changes
We may change the subscription price. If we do, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice via the App or email before the new price applies. If you do not agree to the new price, you may cancel before the new billing cycle begins.
10.5 Free features
Some features of the App may remain free without a subscription. We reserve the right to change which features are free and which require a subscription.
11. Disclaimers
The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, reliability, and uninterrupted operation. We do not warrant that the App will block any particular app at any particular time, that focus tasks will be completed, or that the Service will be error-free.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will we, our affiliates, or our licensors be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, productivity, business opportunities, or missed deadlines, arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the liability, or (b) one hundred United States dollars (USD 100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
13. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless BrainClean and its officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your content; or (d) your violation of any law or the rights of any third party.
14. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. You can delete your account from inside the App, which permanently removes your account and associated data.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, if required by law, or if continuing to provide the Service to you presents a risk to other users or to us.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including Intellectual Property, Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, Governing Law, Dispute Resolution, and Miscellaneous — will survive.
15. Governing law
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or the Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
16. Dispute resolution
If you have a concern, please contact us first at support@brainclean.app. We will try to resolve the matter informally.
Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts located in Sindh, Pakistan, and you and we consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Effective date” and “Last updated” values at the top of this page. For material changes, we will surface a notice in the App or by email where appropriate. Your continued use of the Service after a change becomes effective means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept them, please stop using the Service and delete your account.
18. Miscellaneous
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service and supersede any prior agreements.
- Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible and the remaining provisions will remain in full force.
- No waiver. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms is not a waiver of that right or provision.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Force majeure. We are not liable for any failure or delay in performance caused by events outside our reasonable control (including natural disasters, war, civil unrest, governmental action, network or power failures, or acts of third parties).
- No agency. Nothing in these Terms creates any agency, partnership, employment, or joint-venture relationship between you and us.
- Third-party platforms. The App is distributed via Google Play, subscriptions are sold through Google Play Billing, and you may sign in with a Google account. Your use of those Google services is subject to Google’s own terms, and your payment relationship for a subscription is with Google.
- Language. The App’s interface is available in several languages. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are published in English; if we provide a translation, it is for convenience only, and the English version governs in the event of any conflict.
